Medical Lab Science- Students enrolled in the Introduction to Medical Laboratory Science course will foster critical thinking beyond just the basic procedures, creating a thorough awareness of the clinical laboratory responsibilities that students will have to themselves, to their patients, and to the facilities where they work. Coverage includes the organization of health care facilities, the laws and regulations that govern them, and common tasks and responsibilities for the numerous professional categories that comprise the health care industry. Safety for the laboratory employee, the patients, and the visitors is explained in detail.
Pharmacy Technician- Students enrolled in this class will be given the opportunity to learn the concepts necessary to become a pharmacy technician. They will discover and develop foundation skills that are essential to work in a pharmacy. This will be accomplished by student participation in a pharmacy shadowing experience and completion of Pharmacy Technician’s University online training. This course will assist the student to pass the National Technician Certification examination. Students aiming to take this course must complete an application for entry. Introduction to Sports Medicine- The expanding popularity of sports and with more of the population becoming physically active; students today need a basic understanding of basic injuries associated with athletics. Students will also gain knowledge in the fields of athletic training and professions associated with the sport medicine field of studies.
Health Science Careers I- Students enrolled in this class will be given the opportunity to explore Health Science Careers and evaluate personal career aspirations. They will discover and develop foundation skills that are essential to all health care workers. This will be accomplished by student participation in a variety of activities that includes medical ethics, communication, safety practices and career exploration lessons.
Health Science Careers II- Students enrolled in this class will be given the opportunity to explore Health Science Careers and evaluate personal career aspirations. They will discover and develop foundation skills that are essential to all health care workers. This will be accomplished by student participation in a variety of activities that includes technical skills, practical medical math and career exploration lessons.
Medical Terminology- Students enrolled in the Medical Terminology course will use phonetic pronunciation and word-building to learn the language of medicine. They will learn to understand and communicate using the medical words and abbreviations needed in a healthcare career. The course will use an integrated approach that will allow students to master medical terminology while gaining knowledge and understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body and the disease process.
