South Dakota HOSA/West River AHEC raise over $11,000 in Inaugural Fundraiser

In a partnership with West River AHEC, South Dakota HOSA helped raise $11,000 in its first ever golf fundraiser. All the proceeds will help lower socioeconomic students in their pursuits to work in the health care industry.

The event was hosted by Spring Creek Golf Course on August 1. We have 15 teams participate in the event. Hole sponsors were solicited for $500 as well as swag bag and meal sponsors. We had over 20 sponsors!! Patrons enjoyed some PLINKO and putting through an large inflatable brain.

"This is an event that I see continuing to be successful in the future. This was a great start to getting this off the ground. Brock Rops, SD HOSA's Executive Director said. "We aim to remove some of the financial barriers for some HOSA students. We want these students to succeed, and to do so, we need to help remove as many hurdles as we can, and this is one way to do it."

The event awarded two flight winners and had 18 pin prizes. There was also a putting contest for a stay and play package at Grand Falls Casino.

Next year's event is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 1, 2023.
