SD HOSA hosts Fall Launch at WDT

This past week was the Fall Leadership Academy for all the chapters in West River: Chamberlain, Custer, Lead/Deadwood, Rapid City Central, Spearfish and Todd Country. This amazing day was held at the Western Dakota Technical University. The morning began with an ice-breaker, where HOSA members had the wonderful opportunity to meet various other students from their surrounding region. Quickly following the opening session, morning sessions ensued, with a competitive events overview with Brock Rops (state advisor), Leadership 101 with Pam Teaney-Thomas, and a tour of Western Dakota Tech’s simulation lab. After a scrumptious taco bar, afternoon sessions were quickly underway. The students rotated through Leadership 2.0, a tour of WDT, and visited with various health professionals from Regional Health (Rapid City’s main hospital): scrub techs, lab techs, surgical techs, radiology, and nursing. While the students were rotating through these exciting activities, the advisors met with Brock to discuss how their current chapters are flowing, as well as possible recommendations for the future of South Dakota HOSA! A fantastic day for HOSA students and advisors! Can’t wait for SLC!
