“A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works their tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish their goals.”   - Larry Bird

Learning a new skill is never easy. Honing any skill takes hours of practice, patience, and perseverance.  As a new HOSA member, you may feel pessimistic, lack confidence, and even feel intimidated when it comes to learning procedures such as applying a nasal cannula, transferring an injured patient, and/or providing CPR-First Aid, but over time these feelings are certain subside. Your attitude will change, your confidence will grow, and pessimism will be replaced with optimism as you perfect these procedures through practice, practice, and more practice.

Below are links to health care procedures found within HOSA’s Competitive Events Program.  Although these procedures will not match the HOSA rubrics entirely; the procedures should give you a clearer understanding of what is being asked of you in the events (SD HOSA is not responsible for inappropriate comments on the linked sites.)Events should be practiced using the HOSA rubrics.
